How do I play downloaded files?

Prior to playing your downloaded media, you should have all the proper codec's installed, otherwise the files might not be able to decode the compression (if any) typically found on file sharing networks such as Ares. The reason for compressing files such as MP3's and AVI's is to save space and bandwidth, and decrease the download times. If you don't want to get into searching for and installing tons of codecs, we recommend you download the VLC Media Player, which is an all-in-one A/V player currently supporting all major, and most any file encoding type you throw at it.
